Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Do Ho Joy (ranked 525 p4p, 65 weight class) and Gary Day (ranked 1251 p4p, 144 weight class). Day has chosen Last minute - Great day to choke you out as his entrance music. Gary Day has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Do Ho Joy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 18 - 3, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Day! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ho Joy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ho Joy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. An inside leg kick lands from Ho Joy. Ho Joy cracks a nice hook into Day's ribs. A nice leg kick lands there from Day. Ho Joy thumps Day with a low kick. Ho Joy throws a leg kick and Day counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Day connects with a leg kick. Ho Joy looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Day misses with a looping right. Ho Joy throws a nice looking combination but Day bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Day misses with a hook. Ho Joy ducked under it nicely. A slapping leg kick lands for Day.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ho Joy avoids the head kick by Day.
Ho Joy misses with a body punch
and Day counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Day throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ho Joy's waist but Ho Joy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Day off to one side. Day looks to land a combination but Ho Joy avoids it well. Ho Joy misses with a hook. Day is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ho Joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ho Joy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Day at a distance.

Day takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ho Joy!

Ho Joy jabs Day right on the nose. Day blinks but takes it well. Ho Joy moves out of range as Day strikes. Ho Joy moves out of range of the body kick. Day fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Ho Joy is out of range. Ho Joy connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Day stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Day closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Day lands in his opponent's guard. Day drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ho Joy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Day has Ho Joy in his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ho Joy looking to pass the guard. Day not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ho Joy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ho Joy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ho Joy throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Day feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Day lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Day missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Day controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ho Joy holds on and takes a little breather. Ho Joy is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Day fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Do Ho Joy is winning the standup battle so far. Day stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ho Joy. Ho Joy misses with a wild body shot. Ho Joy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Day takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ho Joy wants to clinch. Day looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Day has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Do Ho Joy. I think Ho Joy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
