PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Hogan (ranked 4794 p4p, 395 weight class) and Kyle Lane (ranked 4431 p4p, 383 weight class). Hogan comes to the cage accompanied by In The End - Linkin Park. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kyle Lane was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Lane!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lane swivels and escapes.

Lane shoots in and bounces Hogan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hogan has his foot on Lane's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lane works his way back into a safe position though.
Lane postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lane tries to free his leg and advance position but Hogan is retaining full guard.
Lane stands up over Hogan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Lane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hogan drops back looking for a leg! Lane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lane manages to kick Hogan off! Hogan jumps back into Lane's guard.

We've been informed that Lane has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Lane is staying active underneath Hogan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lane can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kyle Lane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Lane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hogan was covering up waiting for the punch and Lane finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hogan has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lane should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hogan has tightened it up now! Lane should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
