The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sheikh closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Schultz throws Sheikh to one side and escapes!

Schultz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sheikh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schultz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sheikh tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schultz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Schultz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Schultz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sheikh for as long as he can get away with.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Schultz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Schultz is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Sheikh might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Schultz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Saeed Sheikh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
