Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benton Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jiri Prochazka! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Prochazka. Velasquez tries a head kick but it misses.
Velasquez lands a right hook to the body.
Prochazka misses with a hook. Velasquez blocks a low kick nicely. Prochazka cracks a nice hook into Velasquez's ribs. Prochazka scores with a body shot.
Jiri Prochazka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Velasquez is breathing heavily. Prochazka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Prochazka manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Velasquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Velasquez slips a jab and a cross from Prochazka.
Velasquez seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Prochazka drops Velasquez with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Velasquez looks back up at him and smiles so Prochazka waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Benton Velasquez has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prochazka is looking to chop away at Velasquez's legs. Velasquez appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Prochazka connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Prochazka lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Velasquez out cold! Velasquez is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jiri Prochazka!
