Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maui Wowie (ranked 1698 p4p, 224 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 2281 p4p, 279 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wowie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dont bogart that joint. Maui Wowie had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
30 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maui Wowie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, John Carter! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter swings for the body but Wowie moves out of range.
John Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter goes for a double leg but Wowie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wowie continues to drive forward. Wowie appears to be looking for a big counter. Carter shoots for a double leg takedown but Wowie sprawls well. He's pushed Carter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Carter scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Carter's coach down at Pablo's Boxing Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Carter's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Carter fails with a takedown attempt. Maui Wowie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Carter. Wowie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wowie as he avoids it easily. Wowie appears to be looking for a big counter. Carter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wowie is trying to stand back up but Carter is controlling him
Carter thows a huge punch but Wowie dodges it nicely.
Carter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wowie pushes Carter off looking to stand but Carter dives back in and keeps control.
Carter wants to take a breather but Wowie is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Wowie is staying active underneath Carter, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Carter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Carter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wowie defending well though. Wowie is looking to escape. Wowie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Carter scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Wowie wants to get back to his feet.
Wowie is staying active underneath Carter, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Wowie tries to kick Carter off but Carter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Carter scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Wowie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carter. Carter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wowie is staying active underneath Carter, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Carter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wowie defending well though. Carter takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Wowie blocking the ground and pound attempt from Carter. Carter wants to take a breather but Wowie is having none of it. Carter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Wowie kicks Carter off and gets back to his feet. Carter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Carter gets a double leg takedown into Wowie's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carter throws a big right hand that misses. Wowie wants to stand up but Carter is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wowie working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carter. Wowie wants to stand up but Carter is controlling him. Carter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wowie wants to stand up but Carter is controlling him. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Carter content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Carter lands a couple of decent looking shots. Wowie is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carter is controlling him. Carter wants to control from the top but Wowie keeps moving. Carter throwing strikes but missing. Carter stops Wowie from standing up. Wowie pushes Carter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Carter on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Wowie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wowie walks into a stiff left hand from Carter. Carter digs a good body shot into Wowie's ribs. Carter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wowie pinned against the cage. Wowie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Carter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wowie's waist but Wowie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carter off to one side. It looked like Wowie was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Carter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Carter takes one on the chin but seems OK.
It looks like John Carter has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carter has his takedown stuffed and Wowie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but John Carter will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on John Carter's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Horrible takedown attempt by Carter or perhaps it was just good defense by Wowie, which made it look bad. As Carter looks to move away, Wowie throws a big counter combo but Carter just gets out of the way. Carter misses with a takedown and Wowie counters with a crisp one two that drops Carter! Wowie thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Carter to his feet! Carter is in big trouble!
Carter is rocked! Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wowie moves away. Carter is still on wobbly legs! Can Wowie finish him? Carter shoots and misses and Wowie counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Carter badly! Wowie follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Carter out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Wowie finished him against the cage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Maui Wowie! A relieved looking Maui Wowie thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
