PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kisada Hida (ranked 1029 p4p, 50 weight class) and Sanka Coffie (ranked 2286 p4p, 110 weight class). Hida comes to the cage accompanied by Noisestorm - Crab Rave. Coffie is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rise Above It. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kisada Hida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sanka Coffie!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hida shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A slow jab from Coffie misses its intended target.
Coffie jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hida avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Coffie avoids the body shot from Hida.
Coffie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Coffie scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hida lands with a shot to the body.

Coffie gets a clinch.
Coffie is trying to break the clinch but Hida has him pressed against the cage.
Hida lands with a right to the head.
Hida stops a takedown attempt from Coffie.
Coffie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hida throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Hida breaks from the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coffie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Coffie connects with a jab.
Hida throws a body punch but Coffie moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hida takes one on the button.
We've been told by Hida's head coaches at Rokugan that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Coffie feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hidas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Coffie fails with the takedown.
Danga de danga de dang - Coffie scores with a four punch combination!


Hida is rocked!
Hida takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Oh Hida is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Coffie misses with a two punch combination.
Coffie turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Hida seems to have got his legs back now.
A swing and a miss from Coffie.
Hida is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Coffie paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Coffie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Coffie might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Hida moves out of range of the body kick from Coffie.
Hida takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kisada Hida is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hida keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Coffie looks to land a right hand but Hida moved out of range.
Coffie misses with a hook
and Hida counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Coffie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hida.
Hida swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Coffie is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Hida had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Hida misses with a looping left.
Hida throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hida bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hida lands with a right hand.
Hida tried to score with a low kick but Coffie checks it.
Coffie scores with a nice right hand.
Coffie throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hida counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hida scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Coffie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Coffie looks for a takedown but Hida sprawls well.
Kisada Hida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sanka Coffie.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coffie lands a lovely overhand right.
Hida walks into a straight right hand from Coffie.
Coffie tests Hida's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hida has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Coffie finds it's way round the side to connect with Hida's head.
Coffie throws an overhand right that drops Hida like a sack of potatoes! Coffie dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sanka Coffie!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Sanka Coffie made sure he mentioned Ma Balls Is Hot Clothing, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
The defeated Kisada Hida had this to say: 'I wonder why his fists keeps getting bigger until I got hit.'.
