Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krisko Kurtev (ranked 5521 p4p, 487 weight class) and Adam Alvarez (ranked 24577 p4p, 532 weight class). Adam Alvarez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kurtev shoots in and bounces Alvarez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kurtev is working Alvarez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Alvarez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Alvarez pushes Kurtev off and scrambles back to his feet.
Alvarez tries to clinch but Kurtev is having none of it.
Alvarez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alvarez throws a combination. Kurtev tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alvarez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kurtev momentarily.
Kurtev circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kurtev appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Alvarez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurtev moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kurtev blocks a head kick by Alvarez.

Kurtev shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Alvarez is trying to defend but Kurtev finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kurtev is taking a breather. Alvarez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kurtev seems to be working for a kimura but Alvarez defends the submission attempt.
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet.
Kurtev throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Alvarez to regain full guard.
Alvarez wants to stand up but Kurtev is controlling him.

Kurtev has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kurtev trying to control the position from guard on top but Alvarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kurtev scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Kurtev is really struggling to control Alvarez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kurtev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Alvarez keeping moving, preventing Kurtev from controlling successfully.

Kurtev is pushing down on Alvarez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Alvarez is fighting to maintain full guard but Kurtev has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kurtev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kurtev throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kurtev thows a huge punch but Alvarez dodges it nicely.
Kurtev thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alvarez's head.

Alvarez makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Adam Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurtev tries for a takedown but Alvarez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Alvarez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Alvarez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kurtev attempts a counter takedown but Alvarez avoids it well and moves away.

Alvarez drops Kurtev with a beautiful combination! Kurtev stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Alvarez is looking for the KO!


It looks like Krisko Kurtev has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kurtev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alvarez to the mat! Alvarez manages to get full guard.
Kurtev postures up and lands a big shot to Alvarez's brow.
Kurtev controlling from the top position.
Kurtev cracks Alvarez with a solid left hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez is looking to stand up but Kurtev isn't so interested in that idea.
Kurtev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Alvarez's head.
Alvarez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Alvarez wants to stand but Kurtev is controlling the position.
Alvarez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurtev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvarez has his feet on Kurtev's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kurtev shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kurtev showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurtev shoots in looking for a takedown but Alvarez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kurtev's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kurtev or perhaps it was just good defense by Alvarez, which made it look bad.
Kurtev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krisko Kurtev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alvarez rushes Kurtev and presses him up against the cage.
Kurtev drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alvarez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Alvarez creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kurtev's defenses.
Alvarez is trying to break free.

Alvarez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Alvarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alvarez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Alvarez wants it to stay on the feet.
Alvarez tries to clinch but Kurtev moves out of range.

Kurtev shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kurtev was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Alvarez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Krisko Kurtev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kurtev in side control lands a decent elbow.
Kurtev wants to control for a moment but Alvarez uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Alvarez tries to kick Kurtev off but Kurtev keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kurtev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Alvarez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kurtev stops Alvarez from getting back to his feet.

Kurtev lands a big elbow - Alvarez is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Kurtev!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Krisko Kurtev!
Krisko Kurtev seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
