PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chiku Maneno (ranked 742 p4p, 107 weight class) and Brandon Baldwin (ranked 2406 p4p, 293 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brandon Baldwin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 44 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chiku Maneno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 1, fighting out of New York, Brandon Baldwin!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baldwin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Maneno takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Maneno looks to land a right hand but Baldwin moved out of range.
Maneno avoids the body shot from Baldwin.
Maneno takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Baldwin moves forwards but Maneno connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Maneno throws a body shot but no joy.
Maneno lands a jab to the nose.
Baldwin throws a quick inside leg kick.
Baldwin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Maneno crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Baldwin - the referee stops the clock and Maneno gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Baldwin. Maneno manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maneno walks forward, straight into a front kick from Baldwin.
A nice leg kick lands there from Baldwin.
Maneno throws a looping overhand right but Baldwin ducks down to avoid it.
Baldwin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maneno has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Baldwin throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Maneno throwing a counter right hand but Baldwin manages to avoid it.
Baldwin with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Baldwin throws a nice looking combination but Maneno bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Baldwin throws a lazy body kick
and Maneno counters with a left to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baldwin looks for the body kick but Maneno saw that one coming.
Baldwin misses with a low kick.
Maneno blocks the body kick.
Baldwin throws a head kick that Maneno semi-blocks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Baldwin.
Baldwin tries to land a leg kick but Maneno saw it coming and moves away.
Maneno was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Maneno checks a leg kick nicely.
Baldwin tries to score with a low kick but Maneno moves his leg out of the way.
Baldwin throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Baldwin throws out a leg kick but Maneno moves out of range and Baldwin only half commits.
Baldwin avoids the body shot from Maneno.
Maneno swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Baldwin is looking for the big counter here.
Maneno throws a jab when Baldwin was well out of range.
Baldwin is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Brandon Baldwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baldwin will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Maneno avoids the head kick by Baldwin.
Maneno lands with a nice body punch.
Maneno punishes Baldwin's body with a nice straight punch.
Maneno is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Some bone on bone action there as Maneno checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Baldwin throws a lazy head kick
letting Maneno counter with a right hand.


It looks like Brandon Baldwin has been cut.
Baldwin misses with a low kick.
Maneno misses with a body punch
and Baldwin makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Maneno really felt that one!
Baldwin scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Maneno cracks Baldwin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


Baldwin is rocked!
Maneno lands a jab to Baldwin's midsection.
Baldwin is still on wobbly legs! Can Maneno finish him?
Maneno throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maneno cracks Baldwin with a hook to the temple - Baldwin is on wobbly legs here! Maneno swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Baldwin falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Maneno wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Chiku Maneno!
