Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buford Barnes (ranked 4987 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karol Kowalczyk (ranked 4944 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Buford Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karol Kowalczyk! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnes moves into the clinch successfully.
Kowalczyk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kowalczyk is trying to pull guard but Barnes has him pressed against the cage. Barnes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kowalczyk walks away with a smile on his face. Barnes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Kowalczyk has Barnes up against the cage in a clinch.
Barnes decides to pull guard. Barnes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kowalczyk is one step ahead there. Barnes has Kowalczyk pulled in close to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barnes is on top in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kowalczyk has his foot on Barnes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barnes works his way back into a safe position though. Barnes postures up.
Kowalczyk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnes is one step ahead there. Barnes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barnes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kowalczyk's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes landing some decent shots from guard. Barnes lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Barnes is in close to Kowalczyk's body, working some short punches and elbows. Barnes postures up and lands a big shot to Kowalczyk's brow. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barnes's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Barnes is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Barnes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Barnes stands up over Kowalczyk, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Barnes landing some decent shots from guard. Barnes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Barnes prevents Kowalczyk from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Barnes scoring with punches to the head and body. Barnes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Kowalczyk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Barnes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Barnes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Barnes stands up from Kowalczyk's guard - Barnes perhaps looking for a knockout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kowalczyk has managed to clinch.

Barnes throws a sloppy head kick and Kowalczyk moves out of range easily. Kowalczyk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Barnes backs up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kowalczyk instigates a clinch. Kowalczyk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalczyk paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kowalczyk instigates a clinch. Barnes tries to pull guard but Kowalczyk won't allow it.
Kowalczyk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kowalczyk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Barnes appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Barnes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kowalczyk quickly recovers to half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kowalczyk is trying to get back to full guard. Barnes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kowalczyk is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Barnes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barnes is nestled in close to Kowalczyk, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Barnes in particular looking to stall. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barnes connects with a nice short shot to Kowalczyk's temple. Barnes is nestled in close to Kowalczyk, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barnes performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Kowalczyk wants to control but Barnes is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barnes has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kowalczyk defend it? Barnes steps over the head and cranks it - Kowalczyk is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Barnes!
