Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Sherman (ranked 24887 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stannis Gianoppolis (ranked 5055 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Sherman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stannis Gianoppolis! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Sherman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Gianoppolis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gianoppolis shoots for a double leg takedown but Sherman sprawls well. He's pushed Gianoppolis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sherman looks to score with a jab to the body but Gianoppolis is just out of range. Gianoppolis darts in and clinches Sherman up against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Sherman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gianoppolis tries for a takedown. No joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sherman letting Gianoppolis take a breather here. Sherman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gianoppolis just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gianoppolis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sherman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Peter Sherman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stannis Gianoppolis. Sherman working hard to break the clinch. Sherman pulls Gianoppolis into guard.
Gianoppolis stands and steps away. Sherman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Gianoppolis fails to land the takedown. Gianoppolis dives in for a single leg takedown but Sherman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Gianoppolis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Gianoppolis keeps control of Sherman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Gianoppolis breaks from the clinch.

Gianoppolis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gianoppolis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sherman is stalling in the full guard. Sherman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gianoppolis wants to control but Sherman passes easily into half guard.
Sherman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Gianoppolis trying to hold on to Sherman's head to control him but Sherman postures up.
Sherman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gianoppolis manages to escape and get back to his feet! Gianoppolis darts in and clinches Sherman up against the cage. Sherman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gianoppolis throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gianoppolis shoots in and drives through. Sherman sprawls well. Peter Sherman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gianoppolis looks winded! Gianoppolis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sherman tries to avoid it but Gianoppolis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sherman to the ground. Sherman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A quick step to the side and Sherman tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Sherman misses with a wild combination.
Gianoppolis clinches. Sherman tries to break the clinch but Gianoppolis is controlling the position. Gianoppolis tries to score a body lock takedown but Sherman shows good agility there to stay on his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gianoppolis is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sherman is defending well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sherman throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gianoppolis blocks it with crossed arms. Gianoppolis taking a breather. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Stannis Gianoppolis will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gianoppolis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sherman circles away. Stannis Gianoppolis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gianoppolis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gianoppolis forces Sherman back against the cage and clinches. Gianoppolis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sherman clinches with his opponent.

Sherman has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. A frustrated look appears on Sherman's face as he tries to break the clinch. Gianoppolis is working for takedown but Sherman is calmly controlling the position for now. Gianoppolis is breathing heavily. Sherman taking a breather. Gianoppolis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sherman pulls his leg out and moves away.

Sherman swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Gianoppolis gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gianoppolis tries to pull guard but Sherman won't allow it.

Stannis Gianoppolis seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Sherman has Gianoppolis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gianoppolis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Sherman is looking to break free of the clinch but Gianoppolis has double underhooks. Sherman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sherman wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gianoppolis blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Gianoppolis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sherman walks away with a smile on his face. Gianoppolis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gianoppolis clinches. Gianoppolis looking to slow down the pace here. Sherman tries to circle away but Gianoppolis has him pinned against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sherman controlling the action here for a moment.
Gianoppolis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sherman pulls his leg out and moves away.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gianoppolis. Sherman wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sherman holds on and takes a little breather. Sherman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherman tries to land a sweep but no joy. Sherman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gianoppolis stops Sherman from standing up. Sherman is trying to keep Gianoppolis in close.
Sherman wants to get back to his feet but Gianoppolis is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gianoppolis advances to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Sherman showed his dominance in that final round. I think Gianoppolis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
