Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane MacGowan (ranked 611 p4p, 77 weight class) and Power Shark (ranked 597 p4p, 75 weight class). MacGowan comes to the cage accompanied by The Pogues - Streams of Whiskey. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane MacGowan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Power Shark! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shark throws a leg kick and MacGowan counters with a nice uppercut. Shark throws a body shot but no joy. Shark lands with a cross. Shark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shark misses with an uppercut. MacGowan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
MacGowan punishes Shark's body with a nice straight punch. Nice defenses there by MacGowan. MacGowan is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Shark misses with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shark takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Shark wants to clinch and MacGowan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Shark connects with a solid leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shark. Decent striking displayed by MacGowan there. Shark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shark moves in looking to clinch but MacGowan pushes him off. Shark throws a poor cross that misses
and Shark takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Shark looks to land a left hand but MacGowan moved out of range nicely. MacGowan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Shark. Shark let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Shark throws a lazy uppercut
and MacGowan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. MacGowan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

It seemed like Shark was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A slapping leg kick lands for Shark.
MacGowan misses with a looping left. MacGowan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shark sprawls well initially but MacGowan persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! MacGowan is trying to control the action in half guard but Shark is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. MacGowan seems to be working for a kimura but Shark defends the submission attempt. MacGowan is looking to take a break and control but Shark is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. MacGowan prevents Shark from improving his position. Shark avoiding damage under a succession of punches from MacGowan. MacGowan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shark is trying to maintain the position but MacGowan is very close to passing his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. MacGowan sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shark defending well though. Shark is holding on to half guard well. MacGowan looks to land a strike but Shark avoids it nicely and regains full guard. MacGowan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shark's head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shark can do anything to dispel that myth. MacGowan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as MacGowan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. MacGowan throws a strike but Shark rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. MacGowan is pulling down on Shark's head to control his posture. MacGowan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Shark is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Shark has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing MacGowan to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shark is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - MacGowan pulls down on the head and he's put Shark to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Shane MacGowan! A very excited looking Shane MacGowan made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. The defeated Power Shark had this to say: 'Bullshit!'.
