PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Esteban Casillas (ranked 4571 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ya Tsung (ranked 2468 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ya Tsung was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esteban Casillas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ya Tsung!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsung tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Casillas swivels and escapes.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Casillas tries to clinch up but Tsung circles away and keeps his distance.
Tsung lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Casillas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tsung.
Tsung throws a head kick but Casillas moves out of range.
Casillas shoots in for a double leg but Tsung sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tsung on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Casillas closes the distance and clinches up with Tsung, looking for a takedown. Casillas pushes Tsung against the cage but Tsung circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Casillas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tsung just stands there and leans against the cage.

Tsung closes the distance and clinches up with Casillas, looking for a takedown. Tsung pushes Casillas against the cage but Casillas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Casillas swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Casillas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tsung shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Casillas as he avoids it easily.
Tsung tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Tsung swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Casillas counters with a straight right hand.
Casillas tries to clinch there but Tsung circles away.

Tsung moves into the clinch.
Tsung lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Casillas is trying to pull guard but Tsung has him pressed against the cage.

Casillas can't get the takedown.
Casillas tries to break free but Tsung pushes him back against the cage.
Tsung missing with knees to the body.
Casillas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tsung gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tsung is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Casillas pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Tsung ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tsung no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tsung is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Casillas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Esteban Casillas will probably get the nod.

Casillas shoots for a takedown but Tsung saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A head kick from Tsung lands but Casillas takes it in his stride.

Tsung rushes Casillas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Tsung shoots in looking for a takedown. Casillas tries to sprawl out of it but Tsung keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Casillas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Horrible takedown attempt by Casillas or perhaps it was just good defense by Tsung, which made it look bad.
Tsung has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

Casillas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tsung is fending him off so far but Casillas persists. Nope, Tsung circles away and we're back to standing.

Tsung throws a front kick aimed at Casillas's knee but Casillas avoids it well.
Casillas swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Casillas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Tsung shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Casillas wants to stand back up but Tsung manages to pass into side control.

Tsung tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tsung is looking to take a break and control but Casillas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tsung misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Casillas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tsung on the ground.
Tsung controls the position.

Tsung has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
No luck for Tsung with that takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Some wild striking there from Casillas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ya Tsung showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Casillas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Casillas looking to sit in guard and control but Tsung gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tsung stops Casillas from standing up.
Tsung controls from within his opponent's guard.

Tsung decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Tsung pushes Casillas up against the cage in a clinch.
Casillas tries to pull guard but Tsung won't allow it.

Tsung's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tsung doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Casillas to counter with a crisp jab.
Esteban Casillas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ya Tsung.

Tsung moves into range and clinches up with Casillas.
Casillas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Tsung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Casillas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tsung sprawls well. Tsung wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Casillas gets slowly back to his feet.

Casillas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tsung pinned against the cage. Tsung gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tsung has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tsung tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Casillas swivels and escapes.
Casillas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tsung but Tsung pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tsung feints the counter takedown.
Tsung fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Casillas.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Casillas lands with a cross.
Casillas slaps away a takedown attempt from Tsung, before circling back to the center of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ya Tsung comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tsung has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
