Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Jackson (ranked 130 p4p, 23 weight class) and John Edmonds (ranked 392 p4p, 62 weight class). Edmonds has chosen Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Luther Jackson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Luther Jackson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luther Jackson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Edmonds! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Edmonds. Edmonds blocks a body shot from Jackson. Edmonds swings wildly with an uppercut but Jackson uses good head movement to avoid it. Edmonds goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jackson prevents it.
Jackson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Edmonds is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Jackson struggles to land a body shot inside as Edmonds controls his hands.
Edmonds is trying to pull guard but Jackson has him pressed against the cage. Jackson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Jackson fails to land. Jackson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Edmonds wants to take the fight to the mat but Jackson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Luther Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Edmonds jumps guard but Jackson stands there with Edmonds around his waist. Edmonds gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jackson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Edmonds backwards. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson lands a hook to the side of the head. Jackson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Jackson trying to control but Edmonds is working from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson connects with a couple of short punches. Jackson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Edmonds's head. Edmonds working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jackson. Jackson scoring with some ground and pound. We've been hearing that Jackson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Jackson throws a strike but Edmonds rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jackson is looking to regain half guard here but Edmonds keeps moving and retains side control. Edmonds working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Jackson tries to bench press Edmonds off him but Edmonds keeps the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edmonds is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackson has escaped the position, nice work there. Jackson is trying to improve his position. Edmonds advances nicely into full mount. Jackson can't escape the position.
Edmonds has hold of Jackson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jackson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson gets back to half guard. Edmonds is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Edmonds eventually gives up the hold. Jackson wants to improve his position but Edmonds is controlling well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jackson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Jackson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Edmonds uses it to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson is working hard here to advance position. Jackson struggling a bit here. Edmonds trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom. Jackson tries to bench press Edmonds off him but Edmonds keeps the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jackson regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luther Jackson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Luther Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson tries to clinch up but Edmonds circles away and keeps his distance. Nice defenses there by Jackson. Edmonds throws a right and a left that both miss. Jackson appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Edmonds shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jackson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Jackson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Edmonds wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Jackson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Edmonds has passed into half guard!

That's one minute gone in the round. Edmonds is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jackson is surviving well by controlling Edmonds's body position as best he can. Edmonds looking to secure an arm triangle but Jackson defends it well. Jackson tries to lock up and control but Edmonds gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Jackson is looking to improve his position but Edmonds isn't that keen on the idea. Edmonds controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jackson tries to lock up and control but Edmonds gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Jackson gets back to half guard. Jackson is looking to improve his position.
Jackson actively working from the bottom here. Jackson is pressing down on Edmonds's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jackson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Jackson preventing the sweep. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Edmonds can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson works over Edmonds with some ground and pound from guard. Our spies down at at ELITE Island Gym - 19 Elite Coaches inform us that Edmonds has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Edmonds is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Edmonds swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jackson wants to control from the top but Edmonds keeps moving. Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jackson is looking to pass into half guard but Edmonds pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Edmonds is in guard.
Edmonds must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jackson trying to control the position.
