Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akbar Shah (ranked 5142 p4p, 493 weight class) and Benedicte Swanson (ranked 3415 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Akbar Shah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Benedicte Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shah misses with a double jab
letting Swanson counter with a right hand.
Good standup being displayed there by Shah as he connects with a hook.
Swanson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shah.
Shah throws a right and a left that Swanson avoids nicely.
Shah throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Shah throws a series of punches but Swanson avoids them all with ease.

Shah closes the distance and pushes Swanson back into the cage.
Swanson keeps control of Shah as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Swanson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Shah prevents Swanson from breaking the clinch.

Shah misses with a punch on the inside.

Shah tries to break free but Swanson pushes him back against the cage.

Shah breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shah lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Swanson circles away quickly and effectively.

and Swanson counters with a body kick that stops Shah in his tracks momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Swanson. Shah does a little dance to reset his feet.

Swanson looks to throw the jab but Shah is out of range.

Shah throws out a loose jab but Swanson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shah forces Swanson back against the cage and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Shah's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Shah has had enough of the clinch but Swanson keeps him there for the moment.
Swanson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Shah is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Swanson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shah smiles and moves away.
Shah misses with a few strikes there.
Shah backing away here, and Swanson unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Shah rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Swanson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Swanson throws a looping overhand right but Shah ducks down to avoid it.
Shah steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Swanson.

Shah moves into the clinch successfully.

Swanson throws a front kick that sends Shah stumbling back into the cage.
Swanson cracks Shah with an open hand slap.


It looks like Akbar Shah has been cut.
Shah throws a series of punches but Swanson avoids them all with ease.
Shah misses with a few strikes there.
Swanson dodges the punch combination from Shah.
Swanson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Shah with a body shot.

and Shah takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Swanson has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Akbar Shah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Swanson throws a lazy right hand but Shah sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Swanson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Shah shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Swanson eats them both and turns towards Shah to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shah lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Swanson circles away quickly and effectively.
Swanson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Shah misses with a wild combination.

Swanson cracks Shah with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Swanson throws a right hand that Shah ducks under and follows up with a left that Shah also avoids with ease.

and Swanson counters with a nice right hand that sends Shah toppling to the canvas! Shah scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Swanson finish him?!

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Benedicte Swanson will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Swanson counters with a huge left! Shah is in big trouble! He's backing up but Swanson isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Shah from any more damage. A dominating finish by Swanson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benedicte Swanson!
Benedicte Swanson decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
