Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mervin Woodard (ranked 5106 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Redmand (ranked 5881 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mervin Woodard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Redmand!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redmand tries for a takedown but Woodard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Woodard has closed the distance and engaged Redmand in a clinch.
Woodard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Redmand is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Redmand is trying to maintain a safe position but Woodard gets an underhook and turns Redmand into the cage.
Redmand is trying to drag Woodard to the mat but Woodard just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mervin Woodard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Redmand.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Mervin Woodard.

Woodard fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Redmand sprawls well initially but Woodard persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Woodard takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Woodard connects with a nice short shot to Redmand's temple.

Woodard wants to work for an arm triangle but Redmand is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

We've been informed that Redmand has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Woodard is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Woodard stops Redmand from getting back to his feet.
Redmand is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Woodard jumps into side control!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Woodard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Woodard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Redmand gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Redmand flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Woodard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Redmand with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Redmand shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Woodard defends it nicely.

The referee is keeping an eye on Woodard - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Redmand tries to pull guard but Woodard holds him up against the cage and eventually Redmand drops back down to his feet.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Well Woodard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
