Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Ebbitt (ranked 3438 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Soul (ranked 5732 p4p, 0 weight class). Ebbitt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX-Ain't No Sunshine. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Ebbitt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Soul! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ebbitt drives through with a takedown into guard. Soul looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ebbitt slips nicely into half guard. Ebbitt is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ebbitt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Soul is just riding it out for now. Ebbitt eventually gives up the hold. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soul trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Ebbitt manages to pass to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ebbitt looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Ebbitt takes Soul's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Soul is in trouble. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ebbitt is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Soul defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Soul breaks Ebbitt's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Soul looking to pass the guard. Soul slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ebbitt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ebbitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Soul gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ebbitt looking for a guillotine here but Soul defends easily.
Ebbitt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Soul is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ebbitt is working hard here to advance position. Ebbitt looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Soul stays in close to Ebbitt's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ebbitt is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Soul frees his head nicely. Oh but Ebbitt has switched to an armbar! Soul is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
