Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Goldberg (ranked 5473 p4p, 484 weight class) and Hugo Chavez (ranked 5578 p4p, 485 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Goldberg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hugo Chavez! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez connects with a nice looking jab.
Chavez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Goldbergs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Goldberg motions for Chavez to come forward. Goldberg throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. A punch lands to the side of Goldberg 's head but he takes it in his stride.
It looks like John Goldberg has been cut. Goldberg looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Chavez! Goldberg laying and praying for a moment but Chavez takes advantage and regains half guard. Chavez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nice strikes from Goldberg there. Chavez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Chavez tries to kick Goldberg off but Goldberg keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goldberg drops an elbow to the side of Chavez's head. Goldberg missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Goldberg wants to take a breather but Chavez is having none of it. Goldberg is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chavez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Goldberg working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Chavez's thigh. Chavez counters though and makes it back to full guard. Chavez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Goldberg. Goldberg distracts Chavez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Goldberg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chavez wants to stand up but Goldberg is controlling him. Goldberg chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldberg trying to control but Chavez is working from the bottom. Goldberg works over Chavez with some ground and pound from guard. Goldberg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Goldberg wants to pass the guard but Chavez is keeping the position. Goldberg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Chavez keeping moving, preventing Goldberg from controlling successfully. Goldberg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Goldberg is looking to advance position but Chavez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez trying to control but Goldberg is having none of it. Chavez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Goldberg haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Goldberg tries to hold on but Chavez postures up. Goldberg is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Goldberg is working hard here to advance position. Chavez trying to control but he's not successful this time. Goldberg is looking to improve his position but Chavez isn't that keen on the idea. Goldberg tries to lock up and control but Chavez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chavez looking to control but Goldberg is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Goldberg wants to hold on but Chavez pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hugo Chavez dominated that round. The cut man is working on John Goldberg's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Chavez connects with the punch. Chavez cracks Goldberg with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Goldberg throws a leg kick and Chavez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Good exchange - Chavez coming out on top. Goldberg throws an overhand right that lands on Chavez's shoulder, as Chavez tries to avoid the shot. Chavez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Goldberg misses with a right hand and Chavez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Chavez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Chavez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. John Goldberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goldberg takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Chavez works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Goldberg is rocked! Chavez lands a big uppercut and Goldberg crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Goldberg looks OK. Chavez waves Goldberg back to his feet! Oh Goldberg is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Goldberg pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Goldberg seems to have got his legs back now. Chavez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goldberg. Chavez lands with an uppercut that bounces Goldberg off the cage and back into range. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Goldberg tries a head kick but it misses.
Goldberg misses with a right hand and Chavez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldberg tries to clinch but Chavez moves out of range. Chavez throws out a counter right but Goldberg avoids it with no problem. Nice body punch from Chavez. Goldberg moves in looking to clinch but Chavez pushes him off. Chavez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Chavez lands an overhand right. Chavez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Chavez cracks Goldberg with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Chavez has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Goldberg to stand back up! Goldberg misses with a hook
and Chavez counters with a big right hand! Oh Goldberg is in trouble here! Chavez follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hugo Chavez!
