PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Hazlehurst (ranked 2225 p4p, 279 weight class) and Emil Marinov (ranked 4667 p4p, 0 weight class). Hazlehurst comes to the cage accompanied by Queen - One Vision. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Hazlehurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Emil Marinov!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hazlehurst misses with a hook
and Marinov counters with a right hand to the body.
Marinov connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hazlehurst. Hazlehurst circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hazlehurst moves in looking to clinch but Marinov pushes him off.
Hazlehurst on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Marinov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Daniel Hazlehurst seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marinov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hazlehurst stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Hazlehurst is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Marinov is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Hazlehurst had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

and Hazlehurst counters with a shoot takedown. Marinov fights it but they end up in guard.
Hazlehurst is standing up over Marinov. Marinov looks to escape but Hazlehurst dives into side control.
Hazlehurst seems to have got his legs back now.

Hazlehurst is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Lads Lash Banter Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Marinov throws a shot from downtown. Hazlehurst moves away and avoids it.
Marinov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Marinov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hazlehurst manages to avoid it.

Marinov moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Marinov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hazlehurst stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hazlehurst tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Marinov defends well and Hazlehurst ends up having to push Marinov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Hazlehurst. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hazlehurst uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Marinov.
Marinov stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Marinov throws a hook but Hazlehurst blocks it.
Hazlehurst throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marinov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hazlehurst shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marinov sprawls well. Marinov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hazlehurst gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marinov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hazlehursts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hazlehurst changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marinov tries to avoid it but Hazlehurst manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marinov to the ground. Marinov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hazlehurst closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Marinov's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hazlehurst is just content to waste time from the top position. Marinov takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Emil Marinov tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
