Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Rivers (ranked 2381 p4p, 266 weight class) and Demetrius Tektas (ranked 1936 p4p, 218 weight class). Rivers comes to the ring accompanied by start from scratch. Tektas has chosen Alexander The Great as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

14 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demetrius Tektas! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tektas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rivers lands a jab to the nose. Tektas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Tektas is looking for a kimura here.
Tektas is looking for a kimura but Rivers is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tektas to get the leverage. Rivers is defending against the submission attempts here by Tektas.
Tektas slips a nice elbow through Rivers's hands, connecting with Rivers's forehead. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tektas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rivers keeps working.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tektas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rivers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tektas. Rivers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tektas on the ground. Rivers looks like he's trying to stand up.

Demetrius Tektas dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Tektas fails with the takedown. Tom Rivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rivers lands with a right hand. A left lands for Rivers. Rivers misses with a straight left. Tektas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Tektas on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Rivers. Rivers obviously looking to wear him down.
Tektas sizes up Rivers with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Tektas staying out of range there. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rivers lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tektas has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tektas and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivers misses with a leg kick. Rivers connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tektas momentarily.
Tektas cracks Rivers with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Tektas avoids the body shot from Rivers.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rivers throws a right and a left that both miss. Tektas scores with a nice strike. We've been told by Rivers's head coaches at The House Of Pain that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Tektas throws a hook but Rivers avoids it easily. Rivers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Tektas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rivers.
Tektas throws a big shot that misses. Tektas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Rivers throws an overhand right that lands on Tektas's shoulder, as Tektas tries to avoid the shot. Tektas steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rivers. That one must have hurt. Tom Rivers is winning the standup battle so far. Tektas jabs Rivers right on the nose. Rivers blinks but takes it well. Tektas throws a lazy right hand but Rivers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. No joy there for Rivers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tektas has his takedown stuffed enabling Rivers to counter with a crisp jab. Tektas scores with a jab to the head.
Rivers moves into range and connects with a jab. Nice shot by Tektas. Tom Rivers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Tektas checks a leg kick. Tektas drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Rivers defends it well. A telegraphed right hand from Tektas misses the target. Tektas connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rivers momentarily.
Rivers misses the jab. Tektas is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Tektas scores with a jab. Rivers lands a two punch combo.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rivers lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Rivers pushing out the jab but it's not landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tektas lands with a shot to the body. Rivers throws a hook but Tektas blocks it. Tektas slips under a jab. Rivers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tektas throws out the jab. Rivers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A telegraphed right hand from Rivers misses the target. Tektas throws an overhand right that lands on Rivers's shoulder, as Rivers tries to avoid the shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tektas moves out of range as Rivers strikes. Rivers throws an ugly left hook that misses
so Tektas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rivers uses the ropes to get back to his feet.
Tektas might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tektas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Rivers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Rivers slips a straight right by Tektas. Tektas lands a lovely overhand right. Rivers changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tektas fails with a takedown attempt. Tektas's corner calls for a 1-2. Tektas obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rivers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Beautiful body shot. Rivers sizes up Tektas with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Tom Rivers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tektas takes a swing at Rivers's ribcage but misses. Rivers moves out of range as Tektas strikes. Tektas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rivers.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Rivers showed his dominance in that final round. I think Rivers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
