Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dieter Schmidt (ranked 1438 p4p, 164 weight class) and Khal Stark (ranked 1261 p4p, 149 weight class). Stark is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gardenia by KYUSS. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

27 - 24 - 2, fighting out of New York, Khal Stark!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt motions for Stark to come forward. Schmidt throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Schmidt misses with a body kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Schmidt.
Schmidt connects with a body shot that sends Stark's belly button to the back.
Khal Stark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stark checks a low kick from Schmidt.
Stark uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schmidt.
Stark scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Stark gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Schmidt takes a shot to the head.
Stark has hold of one of Schmidt's legs. Schmidt is fighting the takedown attempt but Stark gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Stark in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Stark throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Schmidt is trying to control the position but Stark postures up.
Schmidt is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stark has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Schmidt to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Stark is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Schmidt pulls down on the head and he's put Stark to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dieter Schmidt!
A very excited looking Dieter Schmidt rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
In defeat, Khal Stark stepped up to the mic, saying 'Thanks to all the fans!'.
