Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Lewis (ranked 2321 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damir Stojnic (ranked 3596 p4p, 0 weight class). Desmond Lewis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Desmond Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damir Stojnic!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis drives through and clinches with Stojnic against the cage.
Stojnic told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Lewis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stojnic looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lewis has Stojnic pushed against the cage.
Lewis wants a takedown but no success here.

Stojnic drags the fight down to the ground.
Lewis throwing strikes but missing.
Stojnic trying to keep a closed guard but Lewis is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lewis throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stojnic trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Stojnic avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lewis keeps the fight on the outside.
Lewis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stojnic defends it nicely.
Stojnic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lewis is fending him off so far but Stojnic persists. Nope, Lewis circles away and we're back to standing.
Stojnic tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lewis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stojnic somewhat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A nice combination there by Lewis.

Lewis drives through and clinches with Stojnic against the cage.

Lewis breaks the clinch.
Lewis has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Desmond Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lewis manages to pull guard.

Lewis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Stojnic trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lewis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stojnic defends it easily.
Lewis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stojnic is fighting to break Lewis's control of his arms but Lewis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Stojnic won't allow Lewis to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lewis looking for a guillotine here but Stojnic defends easily.
Stojnic stands and throws Lewis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lewis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stojnic wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desmond Lewis dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stojnic tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lewis looks for a takedown but Stojnic sprawls well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lewis is defended easily by Stojnic.
Stojnic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lewis swivels and escapes.
Lewis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stojnic circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Desmond Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis avoids the body shot from Stojnic.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Stojnic crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lewis - the referee stops the clock and Stojnic gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lewis. Stojnic manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lewis moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee is keeping an eye on Lewis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Lewis pushes Stojnic back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Lewis manages to pull guard.
Stojnic trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stojnic throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lewis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lewis is looking to stand up but Stojnic isn't so interested in that idea.
Lewis doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lewis working for a triangle but Stojnic defends it easily.
Lewis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stojnic trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lewis fails with the takedown.
Stojnic tries to clinch but Lewis moves out of range.
Lewis looks for a takedown but Stojnic sprawls well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lewis closes the distance and clinches.
Stojnic has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Stojnic has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lewis after a bit of a struggle.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Lewis manages to break the clinch.

Lewis instigates a clinch.
Lewis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Stojnic gets underhooks to prevent Lewis's takedown attempt.

Stojnic ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Stojnic no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lewis is stalling in the full guard.
Lewis won't allow Stojnic to sweep him here.

Lewis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lewis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Stojnic shoots for a takedown but Lewis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lewis swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lewis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stojnic has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Lewis closes the distance and clinches.
Lewis tries to score a body lock takedown but Stojnic shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lewis jumps guard and drags Stojnic to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lewis is not content to let Stojnic control the position.
Lewis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lewis tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stojnic postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lewis tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Lewis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lewis tries to improve his position but instead Stojnic has taken his back!

Stojnic is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lewis is defending well though. Stojnic let's go of the attempt for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lewis is trying to get back to his feet but Stojnic has full control of the position and if anything, Lewis has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Stojnic throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Lewis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Lewis is trying to break free.
Lewis trying to control the position but Stojnic manages to sink in the hooks.

Lewis manages to stand up with Stojnic still on his back. Eventually Stojnic drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Damir Stojnic comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lewis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
