Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Benjamin Torkoly Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Steven Cold! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Torkoly Jr. Cold steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Torkoly Jr. Cold swings for the body but Torkoly Jr moves out of range.
As Cold looks to move away, Torkoly Jr throws a big counter combo but Cold just gets out of the way. Cold jabs Torkoly Jr right on the nose. Torkoly Jr blinks but takes it well. Cold bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Torkoly Jr! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Torkoly Jr wants to hit a switch here but Cold passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Torkoly Jr there! Cold looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cold stands up from mount. Strange move. Cold connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A slow jab from Torkoly Jr misses its intended target. Despite the aggression on Cold's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Steven Cold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cold throws a right and a left that both miss. It looked like Torkoly Jr wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Cold has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Torkoly Jr rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cold counters with a monster head kick that knocks Torkoly Jr out cold! He topples like fallen a tree, crashing to the mat! Timbeeeeeerrr!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Steven Cold! Steven Cold seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
