Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elmore James (ranked 940 p4p, 113 weight class) and Harold Shipman (ranked 1745 p4p, 204 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aMfD2O9Gds. Shipman has chosen I'll beat yo ass. as his entrance music. Elmore James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elmore James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harold Shipman!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to bum rush Shipman with a series of wild strikes but Shipman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've been told by James's head coaches at Gorilla Warfare that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A slapping leg kick lands for James.
Shipman takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Shipman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Harold Shipman has been cut.
A jab from James does it's job there.
James missing with a left hand there. Shipman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Shipman on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
James scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
James misses with a straight right.

Shipman moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shipman gets through James's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.


It looks like Elmore James has been cut.
James lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Shipman backwards.
James misses with the head strike.
James keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shipman's efforts to push away.
James throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Shipmans head.

Shipman manages to break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shipman slips a jab and a cross from James.
James rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shipman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
James lands with a nice body punch.

Shipman drives through with a takedown into guard.

James has his foot on Shipman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shipman works his way back into a safe position though.

James is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shipman is aware though and is defending well.
Shipman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
James keeping moving, preventing Shipman from controlling successfully.
Shipman working some strikes from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shipman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
James working a defensive guard here.

James looking for a guillotine here but Shipman defends easily.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shipman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shipman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shipman controls the pace.
Shipman wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shipman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Shipman has picked James up and slammed him! James can't keep hold of the triangle and Shipman manages to pass to side control!
Shipman has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for James!
James is desperately trying to improve his position but Shipman has a good base and remains in mount.
Shipman landing strikes from the mount and James is in trouble!
Shipman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as James is looking to escape.
James tries to hold on but Shipman pushes him away.
James is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Shipman in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shipman avoids the attempt from James to control.
Shipman looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shipman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Shipman tries to control but James wriggling away.

Shipman looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Shipman wants to finish this one by submission but James is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shipman.
James is wriggling around trying to escape.
James wants to control but Shipman is having none of it.
James is squirming around, avoiding Shipman's attempts to control the action.
James can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Harold Shipman will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action!


Shipman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
James misses with a straight left.
Shipman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
James takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nice defenses there by Shipman.
James scores with a nice right hand.
Shipman throws an off balance right hand
and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

James has managed to clinch.
Shipman blocks a punch to the side of the head.
James misses with some punches.
Still in the clinch, James scores with a nice short uppercut.

Shipman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shipman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Shipman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shipman tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James lands a lovely overhand right.
James scores with the left hand. Shipman knows he should have avoided that one.


Shipman is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shipman shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shipman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shipman is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
James fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Shipman square on the jaw! Damn, Shipman is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Elmore James!
Elmore James seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
