Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Bong!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bong scores with a takedown into Duncan's guard.

Duncan working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Bong has passed into half guard!
Duncan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Duncan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Bong content to control rather than advance.
Duncan desperately trying to maintain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duncan wants to control but Bong is keeping busy.
Duncan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bong is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Duncan is trying to stand up here but Bong is controlling him well.
Duncan tries to get to full guard but Bong has control of the leg.

Bong is looking for a kimura here.
Duncan is looking for a sweep. Bong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bong content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duncan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bong is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Duncan!

Bong is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Duncan is surviving well by controlling Bong's body position as best he can.
Bong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Duncan is looking to escape.
Duncan bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Duncan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Duncan stops Bong from standing up.

Bong throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Duncan throwing strikes from guard but Bong blocks nicely.

Bong is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duncan is one step ahead there.

Bong working for a triangle but Duncan defends it easily.
Duncan postures up in Bong's guard and throws a big left but Bong blocks it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Duncan is looking to work some ground and pound but Bong has wrist control.
Bong seems keen to control Duncan's posture.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Bong dominated that round.

Bong looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Bong closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Duncan's guard.
Duncan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Duncan wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bong manages to pass to side control.
Bong is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bong has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bong working Duncan over with strikes.

Duncan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bong pulls his head out easily.
Bong content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Duncan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Bong winds up and cracks Duncan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Bong lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bong looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Duncan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nice strikes from Bong there.


Duncan is rocked!
Bong content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Oh Duncan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bong drops an elbow to the side of Duncan's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bong lands a big elbow - Duncan is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Bong!
