Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe River (ranked 1335 p4p, 159 weight class) and Antonio Camatta (ranked 3880 p4p, 389 weight class). The key to victory for Joe River has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe River! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
32 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Camatta! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River looking to land some kicks to the body here.
River fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Camatta on the side of the head. River throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Camatta takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. River scores with a nice right hand.
River throws a half hearted mid kick. River's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and River duly obliges. River stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and River wants it to stay on the feet. Camatta tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but River defends well and Camatta ends up having to push River into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. As Camatta looks to move away, River throws a big counter combo but Camatta just gets out of the way. Camatta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Camatta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This has been an exciting period of action! River tries to get back to half guard but can't. Camatta controls the position from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. River can't do much from the bottom here. Camatta passes to full mount! That's big trouble for River! Camatta sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Camatta goes for an armbar but River turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from River.
That's two minutes gone in the round. River looking to pass the guard. River wants to control from the top but Camatta keeps moving. River sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Camatta keeping full guard, as River tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Camatta looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
River slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. River trying to control the position from guard on top but Camatta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. River sitting in guard here, content to control. Camatta is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. River is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Camatta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has River pinned against the cage. River gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Joe River has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Camatta. River changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. River lands a nice hook to Camatta's body. Camatta takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. A slapping leg kick lands for River.
Camatta shoots for a takedown but River saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. An attempted straight right counter from River misses the target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe River dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Camatta uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from River. Joe River is winning the standup battle so far. River throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crunch! River slams his shin into Camatta's torso. River throws an overhand right that lands on Camatta's shoulder, as Camatta tries to avoid the shot. Camatta uses good head movement to avoid the hook from River. River lunges at Camatta with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Camatta's hand. Camatta uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by River.
Camatta shoots for a double leg takedown but River sprawls well. He's pushed Camatta's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. River missing with a left hand there. Camatta was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. River lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by River. River misses with a body shot.
River fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. River thuds his right hand into Camatta's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! River fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Camatta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Camatta looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. River scores with the left hand. Camatta knows he should have avoided that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Camatta tries to score a power double leg takedown but River sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Camatta somewhat. Joe River has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Camatta. River scores with the left hand. Camatta knows he should have avoided that one. Camatta closes the distance and clinches up with River, looking for a takedown. Camatta pushes River against the cage but River circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Joe River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Camatta ducks under a wild hook from River. River lands a slapping body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Camatta shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with River but River pushes him off and we're back to square one. River clobbers Camatta with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Camatta takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. River fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Camatta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Joe River is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! River just misses with a punch to the body.
River defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Camatta. Nice takedown defense from River. No joy for Camatta on that attempt. River swings widly with a right hand
and Camatta counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. River is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Camatta dives into side control.
River is looking for a sweep.

Camatta swings around for an armbar but River sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Camatta's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Camatta working for a triangle but River defends it easily.

Joe River overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Camatta keeping moving, preventing River from controlling successfully. River is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe River dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and Camatta counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. River manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. River digs a right hand into Camatta's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Camatta's gas tank. River misses with a body punch.
Camatta takes a shot to the head. Camatta blocks a body shot from River. Camatta has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but River regains guard immediately. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Camatta is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. River tries to land a sweep but no joy. Camatta trying to control the position from guard on top but River is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. River dips to his left and cracks Camatta with an uppercut!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. River throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Camatta sees it coming and avoids it easily. River is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Camatta can do to turn this around? Camatta gets a double leg takedown into River's guard. Camatta trying to control but River is working from the bottom. Camatta passes River's left leg - he's now in half guard. Camatta trying to control the action but River is working from the bottom. River is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Camatta is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Camatta has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Joe River is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Camatta's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. River throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Camatta. River tests Camatta's chin there with a solid looking shot. Camatta uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by River.
Camatta throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. River was covering up waiting for the punch and Camatta finishes the takedown easily into guard. River has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Camatta off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Antonio Camatta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! River scores with a jab to the body. River delivers a nice body kick. River connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. River listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Camatta takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Camatta fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging River to the ground. Camatta is now in River's guard. Camatta preventing the sweep. Camatta working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe River showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for River, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
