Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joel Romero (ranked 223 p4p, 35 weight class) and Thay Budo (ranked 2304 p4p, 279 weight class). Budo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Knocked Da Fuck Out kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thay Budo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Budo misses with a right hand
and Romero counters with a nice uppercut.
Budo throws a hook but Romero avoids it easily.
Jab, jab by Budo - just one landing.
Romero swings for the body but Budo moves out of range.
Budo lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Budo sizes up Romero with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Budo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Romero seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Romero has closed the distance and engaged Budo in a clinch.
Budo prevents a takedown attempt there.
Romero misses with some punches.
Budo throws a punch but it's blocked by Romero.
Budo misses with a punch on the inside.
Budo misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Romero changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Budo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Budo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Thay Budo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Budo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Romero is trying to drag Budo to the mat but Budo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Budo swings wildly with an uppercut but Romero uses good head movement to avoid it.
Romero can't find room to land a body shot as Budo controls the action.
Romero drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Budo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Budo throws a punch but it's blocked by Romero.

Romero gets control of Budo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Romero will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Romero pulls Budo in close to prevent any damage.
Romero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Romero is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Budo frees his head nicely. Oh but Romero has switched to an armbar! Budo is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
