PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colin McLauhglin (ranked 2418 p4p, 244 weight class) and Lucio Francisco Carmo (ranked 2624 p4p, 260 weight class). McLauhglin comes to the ring accompanied by What the hell are you waiting for. Carmo has chosen Rolling Stones - Paint it, Black as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Colin McLauhglin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Francisco Carmo!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmo jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Carmo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McLauhglin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A shot to the body from Carmo misses
and McLauhglin counters with a thumping low kick.

McLauhglin instigates a clinch.
McLauhglin is defending well against a takedown attempt.
McLauhglin jumps guard but Carmo turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.

McLauhglin pulls guard effortlessly.
Carmo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Carmo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carmo works a leg free and moves into half guard.

McLauhglin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
McLauhglin tries to get to full guard but Carmo has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carmo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McLauhglin has managed to free his arm - good work.
McLauhglin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
McLauhglin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carmo.

McLauhglin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carmo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carmo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Carmo wants to control from the top but McLauhglin keeps moving.

McLauhglin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McLauhglin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carmo defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Carmo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McLauhglin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McLauhglin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carmo.
Carmo wants to control from the top but McLauhglin keeps moving.

McLauhglin is looking for a triangle but Carmo pushes his legs off easily.
Carmo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McLauhglin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carmo manages to get himself to full guard.

Carmo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Colin McLauhglin will probably get the nod.
That's time! McLauhglin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Carmo misses with an uppercut
and McLauhglin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McLauhglin lands a slapping body shot.
Left hook, right uppercut from Carmo.
McLauhglin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carmo circles away quickly and effectively.
Carmo with the counter takedown but McLauhglin avoids it easily.
Carmo throws a poor cross that misses
and McLauhglin counters with a low kick, right behind Carmo 's knee.
McLauhglin looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
A jab from McLauhglin finds it's way through Carmo's defenses.
McLauhglin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carmo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McLauhglin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carmo is trying to defend but McLauhglin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carmo manages to get to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carmo wants to sweep here but McLauhglin controlling him for the moment.
McLauhglin chips away with some ground and pound.
McLauhglin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Carmo controls McLauhglin momentarily but McLauhglin frees himself.

Carmo looking for a guillotine here but McLauhglin defends easily.
McLauhglin throwing strikes but missing.
Carmo trying to control the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McLauhglin works over Carmo with some ground and pound from guard.
McLauhglin is working Carmo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
McLauhglin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Carmo's head.
McLauhglin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.


Carmo is rocked!

Carmo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McLauhglin postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Carmo covers up, he's hurt! McLauhglin keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from McLauhglin and the ref steps in to end the fight! McLauhglin can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Colin McLauhglin!
