Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Emile Mcgowan (ranked 7023 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Quinson (ranked 5365 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emile Mcgowan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Quinson! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinson tries for a takedown but Mcgowan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Quinson just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMcgowan. Quinson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mcgowan to the mat! Mcgowan manages to get full guard. Quinson is pushing down on Mcgowan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mcgowan is fighting to maintain full guard but Quinson has managed to sneak the leg through. Quinson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Quinson stops Mcgowan from getting back to his feet.
Well, if Quinson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quinson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Mcgowan is looking for a sweep. Quinson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcgowan wants to get back to his feet.
Quinson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mcgowan has managed to free his arm - good work. Mcgowan trying to control from the bottom.
Quinson is looking to advance position but Mcgowan won't allow it. Mcgowan wants to get back to his feet. Quinson winds up and cracks Mcgowan with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. It looks like Quinson is going to stand back up.
Mcgowan wants to get back to full guard. Quinson wants to stand up but Mcgowan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Quinson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Quinson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Quinson breaks from the clinch.
Quinson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcgowan defends it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quinson swats away the attempt to clinch by Mcgowan. Quinson drives through with a takedown into Mcgowan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Mcgowan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mcgowan wants to sweep here but Quinson controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quinson looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Mcgowan is working an open guard so Quinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quinson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mcgowan backs up against the cage.
Mcgowan is rocked! Patrick Quinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quinson moves into the clinch. Oh Mcgowan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Quinson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mcgowan uses from the top position. Mcgowan throws an elbow that misses. Quinson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcgowan's guard. Nice move by Quinson! Quinson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Quinson preventing the sweep. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quinson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Quinson's corner is telling him to maintain position. Quinson scoring with punches to the head and body. Quinson scoring with some ground and pound. Quinson stands and throws Mcgowan's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mcgowan is breathing heavily. Quinson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mcgowan! Quinson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Quinson controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Quinson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Quinson dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Mcgowan has had enough and taps out.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Patrick Quinson!
