Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cian Cartwright (ranked 4613 p4p, 429 weight class) and Dan Skog (ranked 3283 p4p, 347 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cartwright might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Engulfed by Darkness. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cartwright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Skog swivels and escapes.
Cartwright tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Skog defends well and Cartwright ends up having to push Skog into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cian Cartwright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A jab from Skog does it's job there.
Cartwright on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Skog feints and then cracks Cartwright's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cartwright down.
Skog punishes Cartwright's body with a nice straight punch.
Skog cracks the inside of Cartwright's front leg.
Cian Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cartwright moves forwards but Skog connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Cartwright goes for a double leg but Skog avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Skog continues to drive forward.
Skog with the counter takedown but Cartwright avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cartwright.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cartwright is defended easily by Skog.
Cartwright ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Skog takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Skog cracks Cartwright with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Skog throws a big shot that misses.
Skog misses with a low kick.
Skog throws out a loose jab but Cartwright uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cartwright shoots for a double leg takedown but Skog sprawls well. He's pushed Cartwright's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Skog swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Skog lands a slapping body shot.
Skog jabs Cartwright right on the nose. Cartwright blinks but takes it well.
Skog throws a solid leg kick but Cartwright takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Skog.
Skog with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Skog shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cartwright is trying to defend but Skog finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Skog wants to take a breather but Cartwright is having none of it.

Skog lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Skog seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cartwright does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skog scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Skog throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cartwright to regain full guard.
Skog slips nicely into half guard.
Skog wants to take a breather but Cartwright is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Skog looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Cartwright is rocked!
Skog is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Cartwright is hurt! He's hurt bad - Skog fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Cartwright from any more punishment! Congratulations to Skog! Great finish!
