Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcin Mizinski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryo Rua! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Mizinski is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rua off and has taken his back! Mizinski biding his time, looking for the opening.
Rua is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Rua covers up after that shot from Mizinski.
Rua defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Mizinski's arms. Rua is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Nice work. Rua is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mizinski controls Rua momentarily but Rua frees himself. Mizinski is breathing heavily. Rua decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mizinski shoots and misses and Rua counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mizinski struggling a bit here. Rua decides to stand back up. Rua gets the takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mizinski tries to escape but Rua is in control. Mizinski is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Rua decides to stand back up. Rua steps back and let's Mizinski get back to his feet. Mizinski fails with the takedown and Rua counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mizinski's guard now. Mizinski working for submissions but it's allowed Rua to get to half guard.
Mizinski is looking for a sweep. Rua is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mizinski is doing well to control the position and prevent Rua from advancing to side control. Rua decides to stand up. Rua throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mizinski's waist but Mizinski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rua off to one side. Mizinski avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mizinski fails with the takedown and Rua cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcin Mizinski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mizinski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rua counters with a shoot takedown. Mizinski fights it but they end up in guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mizinski is on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mizinski is controlling him. Mizinski gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Mizinski with a poor takedown and Rua counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rua looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mizinski looking for submissions off his back. Mizinski blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rua. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mizinski pushes Rua off and gets back to his feet. Mizinski doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rua counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryo Rua dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Rua throws a right hand that Mizinski ducks under and follows up with a left that Mizinski also avoids with ease. Mizinski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rua decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mizinski's guard. Rua wants to control from the top but Mizinski keeps moving. Mizinski tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rua would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mizinski is trying to control the position but Rua postures up. Mizinski looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rua pushes down on Mizinski's leg and manages to get into half guard. Rua not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rua changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mizinski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mizinski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Rua throwing shots but Mizinski is blocking nicely. Rua looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Rua stops Mizinski from getting back to his feet.
Rua is looking to advance position but Mizinski won't allow it. Rua wants to work for an arm triangle but Mizinski is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mizinski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mizinski. Rua is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mizinski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rua counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Rua is working for a kimura but Mizinski is defending it quite comfortably.
Mizinski regains full guard. Nicely done. Rua stands up over Mizinski, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mizinski pushes Rua off and scrambles back to his feet.
Mizinski fails with the takedown and Rua counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mizinski's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcin Mizinski. That's going to take a lot out of him. This has been an exciting period of action! Mizinski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rua's guard. Mizinski gets to his feet. Rua looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Sloppy strikes there by Rua. You can see the frustration on Mizinski's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rua throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Rua is trying to get an arm triangle but Mizinski is defending well. Mizinski is trying to control Rua's posture but Rua avoids it. Rua fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mizinski. Rua shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mizinski's guard. Mizinski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rua throws a big right hand that misses. Rua stops Mizinski from standing up. Mizinski looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rua trying to control but Mizinski is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryo Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Mizinski tries for a takedown but Rua circles away easily and Rua counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Mizinski fails with the takedown and Rua counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mizinski! Rua landing punches. Rua scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rua avoids the attempt from Mizinski to control. Mizinski is desperately trying to improve his position but Rua has a good base and remains in mount. Mizinski really wants to buck Rua off and get back to his feet. Rua punishing his opponent with strikes. Rua is in the full mount, landing strikes. Rua lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mizinski hang on? Mizinski tries to hold on but Rua pushes him away. Rua jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mizinski manages to avoid the submission attempt.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mizinski misses with a takedown and Rua counters with a takedown into full mount! Rua pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Mizinski is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua unloads with some shots from mount but Mizinski bucks and avoids them well.

Rua misses with a head shot. Rua avoids the attempt from Mizinski to control. Rua postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mizinski looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rua is nestled in close to Mizinski, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Mizinski trying to control but Rua postures up.
Rua wants to control but Mizinski is keeping him busy. Rua prevents Mizinski from standing back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mizinski gets caught flat footed, as Rua shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marcin Mizinski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ryo Rua is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mizinski keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Ryo Rua comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rua has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
