Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Kelly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Irvin! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Irvin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kelly to score with a decent uppercut. A solid leg kick lands there for Kelly.
Kelly scores with a decent looking hook. Kelly lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. A combination from Irvin does no damage. Irvin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kelly throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kelly is looking to slow Irvin down with leg kicks. Kelly cracks Irvin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Irvin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Irvin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Irvin throws a right and a left that both miss. A low kick from Kelly misses and Irvin counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kelly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Irvin on the ground. Kelly is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Irvin passes to full mount! Irvin prevents Kelly from getting the reversal. Irvin controlling from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Irvin trying to control but he's not successful this time. Irvin wants to take Kelly's back but he can't do it this time. Irvin working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kelly turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Irvin off and cradles Kelly's limp body as Irvin celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Paul Irvin! Paul Irvin managed to slip a mention for his sponsors, Sin City Allstars, into his post fight interview.
