Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kenshi Kimura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christopher Fry! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimura tests Fry's chin there with a solid looking shot. Fry swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kimura counters with a shoot takedown. Fry fights it but they end up in guard. We've been hearing good reports from Kimura's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Fry keeping full guard, as Kimura tries to pass. Kimura postures up in Fry's guard and throws a big left but Fry blocks it. Kimura looking to pass the guard. Kimura might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Fry working a defensive guard here.
Kimura has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kimura showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kimura works a leg free and moves into half guard. Kimura seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fry is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
