PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tud Stoddler (ranked 98 p4p, 12 weight class) and DeMario Valdez (ranked 581 p4p, 73 weight class). Stoddler comes into the arena with Arcade Fire - Ready to Start blaring out of the sound system. Valdez has chosen Era - Ameno as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tud Stoddler! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, DeMario Valdez! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez avoids a kick to the body.
Valdez is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Stoddler with a body shot. Valdez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. That kick from Stoddler tenderised Valdez's leg. Valdez is trying to keep his angry face on. Valdez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Stoddler drops his hands momentarily and Valdez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Stoddler throws the left hand but Valdez avoids the punch easily. A lazy left from Stoddler finds it's target. A cross from Stoddler lands. Stoddler throws a series of punches but Valdez avoids them all with ease. Stoddler fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Valdez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Valdez takes a shot right to the bread basket. Valdez on the wrong end of a nice hook. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stoddler looks to throw the jab but Valdez is out of range. Stoddler connects with a solid leg kick. Stoddler tries to close the distance and clinch but Valdez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stoddler connects with an inside leg kick. Valdez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Valdez checks a leg kick. We've been told by Stoddler's head coaches at The Jungle Room that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Stoddler scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Stoddler looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Stoddler scores with a jab to the body. Valdez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
It looks like Tud Stoddler has been cut. Valdez moves out of range of the body kick from Stoddler.
Stoddler cracks Valdez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Stoddler gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Valdez.
Stoddler is rocked! Valdez drops Stoddler with a huge uppercut! Stoddler drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Valdez is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). DeMario Valdez! DeMario Valdez is the new lightweight champion!
