The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Rios. No joy for Vilheimshaugen on that attempt.
Rios stuffs the takedown attempt from Vilheimshaugen. Vilheimshaugen gets slowly back to his feet.
Vilheimshaugen shoots in but no luck this time.
Alejandro Rios has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gundro Vilheimshaugen.
Vilheimshaugen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Vilheimshaugen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rios with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Vilheimshaugen winds up and cracks Rios with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Vilheimshaugen slips a nice elbow through Rios's hands, connecting with Rios's forehead.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vilheimshaugen working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Vilheimshaugen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Vilheimshaugen scores with a big shot! Rios's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Rios! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
