Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doko Dokov!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dokov doesn't manage to clinch there - Thift circles away.
Thift appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Dokov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dokov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Doko Dokov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Dokov misses its intended target.
Thift drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dokov sprawls and moves away.

and Thift counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dokov!
Dokov is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thift works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Dokov is not content to let Thift control the position.
Dokov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Thift cracks Dokov with a big right hand but Dokov just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Dokov tries to improve position but can't.
Thift wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dokov keeps working.

Thift lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Dokov throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Thift has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Thift lands a nice forearm strike.

Thift in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Dokov pushes Thift away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Thift gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Dokov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Thift is working Dokov over with some ground and pound from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been hearing that Thift has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Dokov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Thift connects with a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dokov is rocked!
Dokov takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dokov is still in real trouble! Can Thift finish him?
Dokov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thift. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thift is putting a hurting on Dokov here, landing some big shots from side control.
Thift cracks Dokov with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Thift immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Dokov is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Thift!
