Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Penn (ranked 2464 p4p, 280 weight class) and Alexander Potter (ranked 1635 p4p, 207 weight class). Penn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Everything in its right place. Alexander Potter is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, James Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Potter!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Potter throws a nice looking combination but Penn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Potter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Potter can't get the takedown.

Potter works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Potter looking to pass the guard.
Potter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Potter wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
My spies in Gym inform me that Potter has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Potter wants to pass to mount but Penn is defending the position.
Penn is staying active underneath Potter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn wants to control but Potter is keeping busy.
Penn wants to get back to full guard.
Penn is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Steel's Grappling Penn, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Potter lands a big shot there that rocks Penn but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Penn wants to control but Potter is having none of it.
Potter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Potter in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Penn manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Potter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Potter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Potter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Penn!

Let's hope that Potter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Potter bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Penn's head backwards.

Potter has closed the distance and engaged Penn in a clinch.
Penn tries to score a body lock takedown but Potter shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Potter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Penn fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Potter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Penn. That did some damage!
Penn walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Potter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Potter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Penn manages to avoid it.

Potter tries to close the distance and clinch but Penn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Potter steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Penn. That one must have hurt.

Potter has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Penn is trying to force a seperation but Potter has the dominant position.

Penn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

And Potter tries to counter it with a takedown but Penn pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Potter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Potter bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Penn shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A swing and a miss from Penn.
Potter moves in looking to clinch but Penn pushes him off.

Potter lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Penn tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Potter paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Potter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Penn lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Alexander Potter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Potter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Potter tries to close the distance and clinch but Penn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Potter lands a really nice looking cross but Penn seems unphased.
Penn displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Potter throws out the jab.

Potter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alexander Potter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Potter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
