Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Trigger (ranked 415 p4p, 62 weight class) and Carter Donovan (ranked 1116 p4p, 149 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Trigger! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Donovan! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Ben Watson and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donovan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Trigger is fending him off so far but Donovan persists. Nope, Trigger circles away and we're back to standing. Trigger takes a jab right on the kisser.
Donovan scores with a decent looking hook. Trigger throws a body kick that misses. Donovan looks like he wants to counter punch here. A punch combination from Trigger misses. Donovan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Trigger moves in looking to clinch but Donovan pushes him off. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Donovan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Donovan cracks Trigger with a good jab. Donovan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Trigger scores with a nice right hand.
Donovan shoots in and gets a takedown into Trigger's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Donovan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trigger swivels though and keeps the full guard. Trigger seems keen to control Donovan's posture. Donovan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Donovan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Donovan is fighting to break Trigger's control of his arms but Trigger is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Donovan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trigger swivels though and keeps the full guard. Trigger is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Donovan trying to control the position from guard on top but Trigger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Trigger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Donovan was well out of range. Poor timing from Trigger. Donovan doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Trigger scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Trigger defending well as Donovan loads up on a big left hand. Donovan misses with a hook. Trigger ducked under it nicely. Trigger swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. We've been told by Trigger's head coaches at Chris Leben KO Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Trigger avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Trigger misses with a wild body shot. Trigger swings for the body but Donovan moves out of range.
Trigger with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Donovan to score with a decent uppercut. Donovan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Donovan there as he acknowledges the shot. Donovan misses with an uppercut. Trigger saw that one coming. Donovan misses the body punch and Trigger counters by moving into the clinch. Trigger scores with a shot to the side of Donovan's head. Trigger blocks an uppercut.
Donovan is looking to control Trigger's arms but Trigger gets an underhook and turns him. Now Donovan has his back to the cage. Trigger putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Donovan in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trigger misses with a knee strike.
Trigger lands with a short head shot on the inside. Trigger digs a right hand underneath Donovan's ribcage. Donovan let out a lung full of air as it connected. Donovan looks winded! Good body shot from Trigger.
A nice right hand lands inside from Trigger. Trigger lands with a light punch inside. Trigger lands a shoulder strike.
Donovan is rocked! A left hand lands to the body for Trigger.
Donovan is still on wobbly legs! Can Trigger finish him? Trigger working Donovan over with knees to the body. Donovan seems to have recovered his senses. Trigger pushes Donovan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Trigger pushes Donovan against the cage. Trigger is working some dirty boxing. Trigger pushes off with a quick right hook! Donovan goes down! Donovan tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Trigger moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jackson Trigger! Jackson Trigger retains his light heavyweight title! A relieved looking Jackson Trigger thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
