Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hamish Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Mama!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies lands a slapping body shot.
Mama misses with a double jab
and Davies cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mama throws a left and a right that both miss
and Davies counters with a nice uppercut.
Davies paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Davies slaps away a takedown attempt from Mama, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mama throws a combination that misses
and Davies connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mama shoots in and bounces Davies off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mama trying to control the position from guard on top but Davies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davies is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mama trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Davies manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mama breaks from the clinch.
Mama throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mama closes the distance but Davies moves to the side
and Davies counters with a series of strikes. Mama will be more careful next time no doubt.
Davies will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davies gets caught flat footed, as Mama shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Davies is looking to stand back up but Mama counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Davies.
Davies avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mama.
Mama is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mama controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mama maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Davies could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mama has cracked it and Davies is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mama!
