The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roc does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nice sprawl there from Overeem as Roc shoots in.
The fighters circle momentarily. Roc darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Overeem lands with a kick to the temple. Roc shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Jason Roc has been cut.
Jason Roc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roc just misses with a punch to the body.
Overeem throws a right and a left that Roc avoids nicely.

and Overeem counters with a right hand to the body.
Roc looks gassed!

Roc clinches up with Overeem and pushes him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Overeem manages to break the clinch.
Roc moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A low kick from Roc misses
and Overeem counters with a body kick.
Overeem lands with a thumping leg kick.
Overeem lands a nice hook to Roc's body. Roc takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Roc takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Overeem throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Roc.
The fighters circle, before Overeem throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Roc's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Overeem lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
