Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Groman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodolfo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen Pregador Luo - Bate Pesadão as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marcelo Groman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Groman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodolfo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Groman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Groman tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Groman working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Groman keeps moving and retains side control.
Groman looks up at the clock and then as Silva takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Groman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Silva is not content to let Groman control the position.
Silva is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Groman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Groman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Groman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

Groman works to advance to full mount. Silva defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Groman landing strikes, looking to finish!
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Silva slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Silva misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Groman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Groman thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Silva to regain full guard.

Groman tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.

Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Silva is looking to control Groman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted?

Groman is controlling the pace.
Silva trying to hold on to Groman's head to control him but Groman postures up.
Groman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Silva tries to roll over but Groman keeps him under control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva clinches but Groman breaks the clinch

and Groman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Groman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Groman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Silva manages to get to full guard.

Silva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Groman lands a couple of elbows.
Groman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Groman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Silva!
Groman wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.
Groman lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Silva hang on?

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Groman cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Groman goes for an armbar but Silva turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Silva.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva wants to control from the top but Groman keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva throws a strike but Groman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Groman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Groman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Groman pushes his legs off easily.
Silva is striking off his back. Groman thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Silva wants to control but Groman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Groman in particular looking to stall.
Silva is looking to get back to full guard here but Groman has managed to pass to side control instead.

Groman is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.
Silva tries to hold on but Groman postures up.
The referee warns Silva that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Groman avoids the attempt from Silva to control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Groman lands a big shot there that rocks Silva but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Silva throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Silva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Groman lands with some strikes.
BOOM! Groman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Silva flails away from the bottom, looking to strike but he's give an arm to his opponent... uh oh. Groman wraps up the arm in an instant and pivots for an armbar! Tap or snap time - Silva decides to tap! Lovely submission by Groman!
