Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Inspektor Dee (ranked 1391 p4p, 29 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 1393 p4p, 68 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Inspektor Dee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dee swings away with a leg kick that misses. Dee throws a head kick but Ruas moves out of range.
Ruas shoots in looking for a takedown but Dee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ruas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dee pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ruas is out of range and Dee settles back down. Ruas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dee defends it nicely. Ruas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dee is trying to escape and get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas wants to take a breather but Dee manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Ruas. Dee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Dee is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dee wants to hit a switch here but Ruas passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dee there! Dee is squirming around, avoiding Ruas's attempts to control the action. Dee is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Dee wants to control but Ruas is having none of it. Ruas content just to control the position here. Dee is desperately trying to improve his position but Ruas has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Ruas prevents Dee from getting the reversal. Ruas wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Dee keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Dee prevents Ruas from taking his back. Ruas working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Dee is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Dee keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dee has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dee defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Ruas doesn't have the hooks in and Dee manages to turn into his guard.
Dee has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Dee gets to his feet. Ruas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Dee uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ruas has time to react.
It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut. Ruas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dee is fending him off so far but Ruas persists. Nope, Dee circles away and we're back to standing. Inspektor Dee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Ruas. Dee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dee wants it to stay on the feet. Dee thinks about countering with a body kick. Ruas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Dee wants to slow Ruas down by chopping away at his legs. Ruas on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Dee throws a series of punches but Ruas moves out of range. Dee just misses with a punch to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas dives in and grabs Dee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dee pushes down on Ruas's head and hops out. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ruas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Dee throws a lazy right hand but Ruas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Dee throws a looping overhand right but Ruas ducks down to avoid it. Ruas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Dee looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ruas trying to pass the guard but Dee defending well. Ruas wants to control but Dee is keeping him busy. Dee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dee keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Inspektor Dee will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Carlos Ruas's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ruas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dee but Dee pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ruas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dee pinned against the cage. Dee gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Dee takes a swing at Ruas's ribcage but misses. Ruas fails with the takedown. Inspektor Dee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Ruas. Ruas fails with the takedown. Dee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruas was well out of range. Poor timing from Dee. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas shoots in but no luck this time. As Ruas backs away, Dee returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Dee is looking to chop away at Ruas's legs. Ruas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Dee sneaks back into half guard. Dee trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dee is pressing down on Ruas's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Dee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ruas's guard. Ruas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ruas, up you get! Dee throws a head kick but Ruas moves out of range.
Ruas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Carlos Ruas has got the better of the ground game so far. Dee prevents Ruas from improving position. Ruas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dee keeps working. Dee is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ruas's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dee is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ruas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ruas's back! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dee trying to control momentarily.
Ruas rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Dee gets to his feet - Ruas follows without any prompting. Dee lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ruas takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Dee lands a jab to the nose.
That has opened up Carlos Ruas's cut even more. Dee misses with a head kick.
Inspektor Dee is winning the standup battle so far. Dee ducks under a wild hook from Ruas. Ruas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dee to the ground. Ruas is now in Dee's guard. Ruas preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas advances to half guard. Dee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruas can do to turn this around? Ruas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dee trying to hold on to Ruas's head to control him but Ruas postures up.
Dee pushes Ruas off and gets back to his feet. Ruas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Dee tries to kick Ruas off but Ruas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Ruas not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Dee looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruas is one step ahead there.

Ruas looking to pass the guard. Ruas passes Dee's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ruas tries to pass to full mount but Dee defends it. Ruas maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Dee could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ruas has cracked it and Dee is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ruas!
