Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Dorian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Kelly! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelly thumps Dorian with a low kick. Kelly moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Kelly paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Kelly throws a nice head kick!
Dorian tries to clinch there but Kelly circles away.
Kelly has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Kelly scores with a body shot.
Kelly connects with a crisp jab. The fight moves into the clinch position. Dorian tries to pull guard but Kelly forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Dorian pulls guard effortlessly. Dorian is looking for a triangle but Kelly pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dorian is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kelly trying to control but Dorian is working from the bottom. Dorian has his foot on Kelly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kelly works his way back into a safe position though. Kelly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dorian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dorian looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kelly is one step ahead there. Dorian has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kelly can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dorian had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kelly defends it easily. Dorian is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Dorian is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Kelly frees his head nicely. Oh but Dorian has switched to an armbar! Kelly is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). John Dorian! John Dorian tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
