The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan moves to clinch but Guthrie breaks away
and Guthrie counters with a takedown into side control.
Chan sneaks out the side door and pushes Guthrie away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

As Chan tries to get set, Guthrie tries to push him back and clinch up but Chan manages to avoid the attempt.

Chan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Guthrie sprawls well initially but Chan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Chan is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chan is just content to waste time from the top position. Guthrie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
