Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kento Kawamata (ranked 132 p4p, 15 weight class) and Kay Bone (ranked 237 p4p, 31 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kay Bone!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawamata takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bone has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Kawamata is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Kawamata displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bone throws out the jab.
Bone bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bone throws a hook but Kawamata blocks it.
Bone lands a nice shot that snaps Kawamata's head back.
Kawamata walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Bone connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It seemed like Bone was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kawamata is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Bone's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Kento Kawamata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Good leg kick by Kawamata there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bone might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Bone bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Kawamata throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bone escapes and throws Kawamata's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bone gets to mount! Kawamata was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Kawamata tries to reverse the position but Bone maintains control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bone wants to control the pace but Kawamata is squirming around nicely.
Kawamata is desperately trying to improve his position but Bone has a good base and remains in mount.

Bone got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kawamata has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bone has managed to get both his arms back between Kawamata's legs - danger averted.

Oh Kawamata is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kawamata looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
