Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gunner Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Romano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Peterson.
Peterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Romano on the ground.
Peterson tries to stand but Romano controls the position and pulls Peterson into his guard.
Romano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Peterson wants to control from the top but Romano keeps moving.
Romano is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Peterson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Romano working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peterson.
Romano throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Romano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Peterson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Peterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Romano lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Peterson!

Peterson tries to lock up and control but Romano gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Romano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Peterson wants to control but Romano is having none of it.

Romano is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peterson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Romano has control of Peterson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Peterson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Gunner Peterson will probably get the nod.

Peterson wants to control but Romano passes into side.
Romano connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Peterson some visible discomfort.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Peterson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Peterson throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Romano working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Romano tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Romano decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Peterson closes the distance and clinches up with Romano, looking for a takedown. Peterson pushes Romano against the cage but Romano circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Peterson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Romano is looking to escape.

Romano sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Romano is trying to control but can't.

Peterson wants to stand but Romano is controlling his posture from full guard.
Peterson is looking to advance position but Romano has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Romano stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Peterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Romano's guard.

A close second round but Alessandro Romano will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Romano lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Peterson backs up against the cage.
Peterson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Peterson shoots in but Romano avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Peterson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Romano swivels and escapes.
Romano lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Peterson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Romano counters with a nice uppercut.
Romano tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Peterson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Romano wants to clinch.
Peterson works over Romano's head and body with a nice combination.

Romano fails with the takedown.

Peterson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Peterson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Peterson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Romano to regain full guard.
Peterson is in close to Romano's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Peterson wants to stand but Romano has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Romano pushes Peterson off and gets back to his feet.

Peterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Romano circles away quickly and effectively.

Romano has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Peterson doesn't defend quickly enough and Romano has managed to lock this one up! Can Peterson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Romano on a fantastic submission victory.
