Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between J Rodd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulo Silva is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, J Rodd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodd thows a body shot but no joy.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rodd as he jumps to the side.
Rodd throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rodd looks to score with a jab to the body but Silva is just out of range.
Rodd tests Silva's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodd sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rodd as he avoids it easily.
J Rodd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Silva.
Silva tries for a takedown but Rodd sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rodd misses with a straight left.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Rodd, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Rodd against the cage but Rodd circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rodd tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Rodd.
Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rodd has his hands on Silva's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodd is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Rodd is defending well.

Rodd wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rodd is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rodd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it.

Good exchange - Rodd coming out on top.
J Rodd is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rodd stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt.
Rodd misses with a low kick.
Rodd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rodd throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rodd ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Rodd lands a slapping body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodd tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Rodd does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A right-left combo lands from Rodd.
Silva uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rodd.
Silva avoids the body shot from Rodd.
Rodd misses with a head kick.
Rodd misses with a wild combination.
Silva shoots in and bounces Rodd off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rodd is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rodd works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rodd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.
A head kick misses from Rodd.
Silva keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rodd is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Silva.
Rodd misses the shot to the body.

Rodd is looking to wear down Silva with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Rodd misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Silva.
Rodd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silva moves away.
Rodd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva moves out of range of the strikes.
Rodd throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silva.
Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rodd to the mat! Rodd manages to get full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rodd can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Silva seems to be looking for submissions.
Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Silva swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rodd is now in Silva's guard. A big mistake from Silva there, giving up the dominant position!
Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rodd wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rodd has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rodd is sitting in close to Silva's body. Silva has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rodd is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rodd is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Silva.
