Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Kotkaniemi (ranked 3455 p4p, 360 weight class) and Brady Hill (ranked 4818 p4p, 418 weight class). Brady Hill has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jesse Kotkaniemi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse Kotkaniemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brady Hill!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill throws a sloppy head kick
and Kotkaniemi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
We've been informed that Hill has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hill lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kotkaniemi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kotkaniemi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Hill wants to clinch.
Hill motions for Kotkaniemi to come forward. Hill throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kotkaniemi misses with a straight left.
Kotkaniemi misses with a hook. Hill ducked under it nicely.
Kotkaniemi throws a body punch but Hill moves out of range.

Hill closes the distance and clinches.
Kotkaniemi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hill fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hill dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kotkaniemi keeps the fight on the outside.
Hill misses with a leg kick

and Kotkaniemi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kotkaniemi lands a nice short elbow.
Kotkaniemi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hill's head.
Hill is looking for a sweep. Kotkaniemi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kotkaniemi is trying to control the action in half guard but Hill is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hill wants to control but Kotkaniemi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kotkaniemi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Kotkaniemi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kotkaniemi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hill on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Kotkaniemi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hill gets back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kotkaniemi wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Kotkaniemi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hill can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kotkaniemi cracks Hill with a solid left hand.
Kotkaniemi stands up over Hill, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kotkaniemi tries to free his leg and advance position but Hill is retaining full guard.

Hill has his foot on Kotkaniemi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kotkaniemi works his way back into a safe position though.
Kotkaniemi cracks Hill with a solid left hand.
Hill has momentary wrist control but Kotkaniemi slips an elbow through the middle.
Kotkaniemi looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill is looking to stand up but Kotkaniemi isn't so interested in that idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kotkaniemi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hill's head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kotkaniemi's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kotkaniemi scoring with punches to the head and body.
Kotkaniemi connects with a couple of short punches.


Hill is rocked!
Hill trying to keep a closed guard but Kotkaniemi is proving a slippery customer.
Hill is still in real trouble! Can Kotkaniemi finish him?
Kotkaniemi connects with a couple of short punches.
Kotkaniemi gets to his feet and stands over Hill, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hill felt that one! Kotkaniemi unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hill from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesse Kotkaniemi!
