Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Steel (ranked 1883 p4p, 207 weight class) and Frik Van Wyk (ranked 2458 p4p, 247 weight class). Van Wyk has chosen Ska-Rumba as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frik Van Wyk! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Wyk just misses with a punch to the body.
Steel with a jab. Van Wyk moves out of range of the strikes. Steel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Van Wyk.

Van Wyk misses with a takedown attempt - Steel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A head kick by Van Wyk misses and Steel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Steel with a hook. Steel's jab looks to have found its range, popping Van Wyk under the eye. Steel shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Van Wyk eats them both and turns towards Steel to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Decent striking displayed by Steel there. Steel just misses with a punch to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Wyk throws a leg kick that is checked letting Steel counter with a right hand. A low kick from Van Wyk is predictable there and Steel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Van Wyk shoots for a double leg takedown but Steel sprawls well. He's pushed Van Wyk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Steel appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Steel scores with a nice head shot. Van Wyk misses with a kick to the body and Steel counters with a stiff right hand. Steel looks to score with a jab to the body but Van Wyk is just out of range. Steel sets himself, and Van Wyk steps forward looking for the clinch! Steel avoids it this time. Steel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Steel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Van Wyk's guard. Steel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Steel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Van Wyk is on top in guard.

Jack Steel dominated that round. That's time! Steel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Steel misses the shot to the body. Van Wyk's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steel connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Van Wyk scrambles back to his feet. Van Wyk tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Steel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Van Wyk tries to clinch but Steel moves away and Steel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Van Wyk gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nice body punch from Steel - that landed with a thud.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Steel here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Steel lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Steel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Van Wyk can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Van Wyk tries to score a body lock takedown but Steel shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Steel scores with a shot to the side of Van Wyk's head. Steel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Steel tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Steel misses with a hook from the clinch.

Steel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Frik Van Wyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Wyk takes one on the chin but seems OK.

After winning the bout, Jack Steel thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. In defeat, Frik Van Wyk stepped up to the mic, saying 'You can only learn by losing. I will come back stronger!'.
