PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Bell (ranked 120 p4p, 16 weight class) and Kvame Zulu (ranked 62 p4p, 8 weight class). Zulu comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Big Badaboom kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kvame Zulu!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Zulu - that will leave a mark!
Bell takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bell moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Zulu throws the left hand but Bell avoids the punch easily.
Bell was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Bell slips under a jab.
Bell slips a straight right by Zulu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell walks into a straight right hand from Zulu.
Bell misses with a left hand
and Zulu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bell takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Zulu with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Zulu's corner calls for a 1-2. Zulu obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Zulu lunges at Bell with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bell's hand.
Zulu misses with a wild body shot.
An attempted straight right counter from Bell misses the target.
A low kick from Zulu is predictable there
and Bell counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Bell has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Zulu.

Zulu throws a nice outside leg kick.
Zulu lands an overhand right.
Bell looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zulu throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A nice inside leg kick there by Zulu. That's going to slow Bell down.
Zulu throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bell on the side of the head.
Zulu turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Zulu delivers a nice body kick.

Zulu lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bell is breathing heavily.
Zulu throws a quick inside leg kick.
Zulu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Bell on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Zulu misses with the combination.
An attempted straight right counter from Bell misses the target.
Zulu is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bell had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
A solid leg kick lands there for Zulu.

Zulu scores with a nice right hand.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Zulu!
Bell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Zulu goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bell was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Zulu slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bell throws a lazy right hand but Zulu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zulu! But no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kvame Zulu dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Zulu cracks Bell with a good jab.
Zulu moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kvame Zulu seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bell crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Zulu - the referee stops the clock and Bell gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Zulu. Bell manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Bell drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Nice straight punches there by Zulu. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Zulu.

It looked like Bell wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Zulu cracks Bell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Zulu has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Bell to stand back up!

A big right from Zulu misses.
Bell appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Zulu, as that shot connected.
Zulu drops Bell with a straight right hand, right on the button! Zulu follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kvame Zulu!
A less than humble Kvame Zulu misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
