PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Pera (ranked 94 p4p, 14 weight class) and Kron Silva (ranked 881 p4p, 107 weight class). Pekka Pera had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Pera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Kron Silva!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pera throws a solid leg kick but Silva takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Pera.
Silva misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pera loads up on a big right hand but Silva slips the punch.
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pera pinned against the cage. Pera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pera really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Good leg kick by Pera there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Pera finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Silva with the counter takedown but Pera avoids it easily.

Pera fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Pera is now in Silva's guard.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Pera pushes his legs off easily.

Pera avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pera with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pera won't be happy with that.

Pera is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?
Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pera haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pekka Pera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pera avoids the body shot from Silva.
A low kick from Silva is predictable there
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Pera cracks the inside of Silva's front leg.
Silva chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pera can pounce on him.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Silva postures up in Pera's guard and throws a big left but Pera blocks it.
Silva throws an elbow that misses. Pera uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Pera!


And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kron Silva.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kron Silva rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
Pekka Pera was interviewed post fight and said 'Matchmaking like this always makes me feel like i have done something bad to these owners..'.
